Policy XII

Internet and Computer

 XII. Internet/Computer

 

    A. Any patron 16 years old or older, in good standing with the library, may log on the Internet with the librarian’s supervision and assistance.

 

    B. The computers are available for public use during open hours, except on Saturdays. Patrons can sign up for a 30-minute block of time, and if the computer is not being used, may use the computer. After 30 minutes, if no one is waiting to use the computer, a second block of 30 minutes may be granted.

 

    C. Requests for the librarian’s time in research must be made a day in advance. Time for research for each patron is left to the discretion of the librarian.

 

    D. The common sense of the patron, and the librarian’s discretion will determine what information is brought online. The use of chat rooms is not permitted to library patrons.

 

    E. There will be a 10-cent charge for each print out page. Payment must be made in advance.

 

    F. No accessories are permitted.

 

    G. We are aware of U.S. copyright and obscenity laws and understand that Hedrick Public Library will accept no legal responsibility if a patron willingly violates federal or state statues.

 

    H. There is no fee for the use of the computers.

 

    I. Patrons using computers will not have children in their care under the age of 8 years of age. Children under 8 years of age in the library are always to be supervised by a parent or guardian over the age of 16 years. It is impossible to adequately monitor a child in the library while using a computer.

 

    J. Wireless access is granted to any patrol of Hedrick Public Library, however patrons must adhere to the above policies of the library.
